2002 Jean-Jacques Confuron Romanee St. Vivant 750ml

VM93, BH93

Good medium red. Very sexy aromas of redcurrant, tobacco, mocha, underbrush and truffle. Lush and smooth in the mouth, but also with lovely tension and aromatic intensity to the flavors of strawberry, mocha and molasses. Dry and classic, and long and perfumed on the finish. This was aged in 100% new oak but the wood element has mostly been absorbed. Still plenty of tannins to support further aging, but Alain Meunier reminded me that he doesn't like really old Burgundies (i.e., after 15 years). (Drink between 2016-2026)
