2017 Domaine Maume-Marchand-Tawse Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Champeaux 750ml

The 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Champeaux 1er Cru is matured with 30% whole bunches in 50% new oak. It has a slightly more modern sheen than the other Gevrey from Tawse, but the oak is seamlessly integrated into pure red fruit that exudes Pinoté. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannin and a fine line of acidity. Quite compact toward the second half, but I love the mineralité that floods the finish, not to mention the spiciness on the aftertaste. Excellent. (Drink between 2022-2040)
